Background
Big Data is an explosion of information along with the growth of mobile use and internet data ecosystem. Various types of structured and unstructured data from social media such as blogs, facebook, twitter have supported the huge volume, variety, velocity and value of data from terabytes to petabyte of data. The development of the big data phenomenon and the availability of technology has led to the growth of new innovations and opening up Government and Private agency space to improve the quality services to the citizens.
Accordingly, Cabinet Minister’s Meeting on 20th August 2014 has agreed that public sector agencies should implement the initiative of Big Data Analyitic (BDA) to increase outcome and reduce Government cost. The implementation of BDA at each agency also necessary to enhance the Government’s ability to make informed and factual decisions, develop local talent and respond to the critical needs of country’s transformation agenda at the same time.
MAMPU as the leading agency for the implementation of the Public Sector Big Data Analytic initiative plays a role to ensure the implementation of BDA in agencies can be implemented in accordance with the plan.
Objective
The objectives of this programme as follows:
(a) Providing a platform for knowledge sharing on the direction, global trends and the implementation of Big Data initiatives in today ICT technology;
(b) Provide awareness and encouragement in relation to the importance of Big Data based services development in order to improve the service delivery system; and
(c) Obtain agency commitment to implement Big Data Analytics.
Impact
The impact of this programme as follows:
(a) Exposure the tools or technologies used in the implementation of Big Data Analytics;
(b) Identify the approaches and methods that can be used in the development of big data initiatives; and
(c) Enhance awareness of the importance of Big Data based development services in an effort to improve the quality services to the citizens.
