Letter of Instruction from the Chief Secretary to the Government dated 22 March 2000: Nomination of Chief Public Sector Information Officer states that “Public Sector agencies should nominate a Chief Information Officer (CIO) among top management”.
Government IT and Internet Committee (JITIK) Meeting No. 1/2009 chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government on 18 March 2009 has stipulated that “MAMPU acts as the Public Sector CIO Office and provides the Public Sector CIO reference field”.
The main roles of CIOs at the Public Sector level are as follows:
Leading change through the alignment of the Ministry / State / Agency ICT Strategic Plan (ISP) with the requirements of the National Development Plan, Ministry / State / Agency Strategic Plan and Public Sector ISPs;
Implement and coordinate the application of global policies, standards and best practices;
Coordinate the promotion of ICT culture in the public service delivery system; and
Implement and coordinate Electronic Government innovations, ICT infrastructure and security.
Accordingly, the myCIO System has been developed to store and share Public Sector CIO information.
The main function of this myCIO System is to ensure that the Public Sector CIO information is accurate and up to date. The list of agency CIOs is compiled by ministry / state to make it easier for users to obtain CIO information.
In addition, the Public Sector CIO Information Form can be downloaded through the system for the purpose of updating the CIO information of the respective agencies.
